Be Tick Aware
Ottawa Public Health has confirmed that blacklegged ticks have been found at Morris Island Conservation Area and have tested positive for the bacteria that causes Lyme disease.
HELP PROTECT YOURSELF
- Apply an approved mosquito repellent containing DEET to exposed skin and clothing
- Wear long pants, a long sleeved shirt, shoes and socks and tuck your pants into your socks
- Wear light coloured clothing
- Stay on the trail, avoid walking in long grass
- Check yourself, children and pets for ticks. Pay special attention to the scalp, armpits, groin and behind the knees.
