• Motion to increase membership fees from $20 per cottage to $30 in 2025  (in line with other cottage associations). 

• Motion for MPOA Board to begin the process of using ProcellaCOR FX to treat Eurasian Milfoil, which involves the following steps:

Step 1: Fundraising
Step 2: Proportionate cost sharing agreement with the Bon Echo Park (agreement in principle already secured)
Step 3: Competitive invitation to quote (3 applicators now approved in Ontario).
Step 4: Hire a licensed applicator 
Step 5: Execute
Step 6: Post Treatment water testing 
Step 7: Monitoring of Results

ProCellaCOR FX is a liquid treatment that kills the weed at the root. It has been certified and approved for use in Canada (by Health Canada), the EU and the U.S.A.

Please note, the application of ProCellaCOR FX will not be applied to the whole lake. It is applied selectively by drip method to the known EM weed beds, by a licensed applicator.  

Before bringing this solution forward, since Fall of 2022, the MPOA Board (under the umbrella of the Blue Lakes Committee) has carried out extensive research and consultations with government agencies, conservation authorities and other Lake Associations into options to treat Eurasian Milfoil. 

The Board has landed on ProCellaCOR FX because it has been shown to:

• have no detrimental effects to humans, fish and wildlife habitat.  

• has no swimming or drinking water restrictions.  

• does not impact any other aquatic vegetation besides Eurasian & Northern Milfoil. 

• is the most financially feasible treatment when compared to alternatives (see AGM presentation for further details) 

This treatment is not a guaranteed eradication of the infestation;  however, it does allow us to manage it in an attempt to keep it under control, which is our best hope. It has been independently and widely studied and has been used in Canada in such places as the Bay of Quinte twice and Farlain Lake (near Collingwood). While Farlain Lake has been trying to eradicate Eurasian Milfoil for 10+ years without success, in September 2023 they used ProCellaCOR FX with excellent results.

2.  Volunteer for the Fundraising Committee

As I am sure you can appreciate, fundraising is a massive undertaking.  This initiative will be run as a project, outside of the board, but reporting to the board. We are looking for someone to lead this project and many others to help with various roles, including social media, events, advertising, canvassing and grant writing.

Our first fundraising brainstorm session will be held Wednesday, July 31st at 7:00 p.m. via zoom. All are welcome!  The focus will include fundraising ideas, and fundraising initiatives. This is a call for volunteers from the lake to join our project whether you are an MPOA member or not.  Zoom info below.
