September 2018 update
Dear MPOA members,
A quick update as fall approaches...
- Please check out the 2018 photo contest submissions. You may need to scroll down and click on the 2018 photo contest link to see them. There are some really great photos! Please note there are 4 pages (39 photo submissions; 12 to a page...some of the titles are long so it doesn't line up perfectly, but good enough for you to look through!). Just a reminder that voting for your favourite photos ends September 20th. Vote by clicking on this link and entering your top 3 choices. Remember, one (set of 3) votes per cottage! Thanks for participating.
- A few people have closed their cottages and then emailed me to get contact info for someone up at the lake. Just a reminder that if you think you might like one for your home or wherever you will be spending your fall/winter months, extra directories are available for $10 at Smarts or Browns campground (the first one was free with your 2018 membership).
- A reminder to Mazinaw Water-Access Cottagers...Before you close up for the season, make sure you book your septic tank pumping if you are interested in having this done in the spring. The Kawartha Utility Services (KUS), based in Lakefield, near Peterborough, will be servicing Mazinaw in early June 2019 IF THEY GET ENOUGH participants. They have 5 booked at the moment, and need 9. The cost is $1150 + HST per tank. Please contact Terri Foster directly at Kawartha Utilities Services (terri.kus@nexicom.net or (705) 654-4000 Phone. Reference: Mazinaw Lake – 2019. At this point, all KUS requires is your name, phone number, email address, and your Mazinaw Lake address. Please remember, that after this service, they won’t be back for a few years.
- Finally, as the cottage season winds down, and may be closing your cottage for the season, we invite you to consider donating your non-perishable food items to the Northbrook Food Bank rather than carting it all home. Between now and the end of Thanksgiving weekend, you can drop off your donations to:
- Brown’s Tent and Trailer Park located at 61 Addington Road 5 at the north end of the Mazinaw. The bin will be up at the office of the white house and only open Friday afternoons, Saturday and Sunday.
- Smarts Marina, at the south end of Mazinaw. The bin will be near the fence.
- Pineview Free Methodist Church located on Highway #41 (just past the tennis courts on the left side of the hwy as you drive towards Cloyne). A box is under the roof with a note “MPOA drop off”. You can also put things inside the main doors of the church. They will accept food items, and also clean toys/puzzles, clothes/towels (in good condition). Thank you for giving back to the community that we all cherish.
